Snowbound
Some stories for a snowy day
Since I’m clearly not going anywhere today, I thought it would be fun to revisit two past stories about characters getting snowed in.
Here is “Snow Day” from 2020, originally published in NO CONTACT magazine. It was inspired by both the weather and the pandemic.
And here is “Accidentally Like a Luddite,” originally published in ATTICUS REVIEW in 2017. The original, shorter version grew out of an ekphrastic writing exercise based on a photograph showing two lawn chairs in the snow, part of a Poetry & Art exhibit at the Wickford Art Association. This is not that photo, but a new one I took in this year’s record-setting blizzard.
Whether you’re looking at snow-covered streets or palm trees, I hope you’re safe and cozy. Enjoy the stories!
